Work it

Shopping for professional wear can be a struggle, whether you're fresh into the field and are a little lost with where to start or you're just looking for some new ideas to spice up your work wardrobe. Here are a few of our favorite essential professional pieces to give you some inspiration!

The Blazer

First things first, every woman needs to experience the wonders of a good blazer. This is a hands-down must have if you are working in any kind of professional field. Throw on a sleek black blazer over a simple white tee, paired with dark jeans and just like that, you've taken your outfit from the grocery store to the office. For a nice change from the typical blazer, try a cute tweed jacket! Our Greylin tweed jacket looks amazing layered over a feminine floral top.

Blouses and Button-Ups

When most people think of blouses and button-ups, they instantly tend to think simple and white. This makes perfect sense, because they're classic and will go with anything. You can't argue with a classic, but don't restrict yourself to it! Take a step out of your comfort zone and go for a different cut or colored blouse and still look equally as professional! For a new approach, wear a patterned blouse with some colored heels or layer your button-up with a cute light sweater and some pretty jewelry.

Accessories

Think of your accessories as little details with major importance. The picture just isn't complete without a little bling. You can decide on how much, based on the complexity of your outfit. If you're wearing a dramatic color or a top with a busy neckline, stick with simple pieces, like a pretty gold chain. If you're outfit consists of more neutral colors, take it up a notch by rocking a pair of double sided earrings and a bold cuff bracelet. Tip: make your earrings stand out more by wearing your hair in a cute chic bun!

Arm Candy

A gorgeous handbag is the last piece that ties your look together as you walk out the door and head to the office, and you want to arrive in style. A larger sized purse is great for work, so that you can carry everything from your laptop to your favorite lipstick. In the winter, a dark colored leather handbag looks chic and sophisticated. One of our current favorites is the ECO friendly Nice Things handbag. As an added bonus, it has a uniquely patterned removable interior!

Five Fashion Resolutions

No matter what people say- the way you dress matters.

We've compiled five resolutions that we encourage everyone to try.

1. Take Risks

Don't be afraid to be the first one of your friends to try a new trend! Maxi's and midi skirts are nothing to fear! They are actually designed to flatter your figure by making it appear more elongated. If you think you're too short, you're wrong- all you'll need is a simple (and inexpensive) hem job.

2. Accessorize

Sometimes it can be as simple as adding a necklace and a pair of shades to take your outfit from "Plain Jane" to "New York ready". Willing to go outside of your comfort zone? We suggest throwing on a cute hat! Accessories truly pull everything together and make an outfit complete.

3. Mix it Up

Time to leave the days of "matchy, matchy" in the past and start off the new year by getting playful with prints! Create a cool contrast by pairing different shades of denim or floral patterns on both top and bottom. After all, rules are made to be broken!

4. Layer

Make your outfit stand out from the "mainstream" looks by adding unique layers like a knee socks, or a cape blazer!

5. Be Confident

The most important resolution of all is confidence! You must have confidence in yourself and your outfit choices. If you like something and you feel good in it- embrace it!

THE LAWS OF LAYERING

The more the merrier couldn't be more true when it comes to layering dainty necklaces with barely there chains. There are three basic lengths of necklaces when it comes to layering- short, medium, and long. Play around with different lengths and we promise you'll find a look you love.
On another note, we have a new line of 18K gold plated jewelry and it is honestly perfect for layering. We're sure a lot of you have heard of it because it is amazing and it is super popular among celebrities and big name bloggers- with that said, we'd like to introduce you to our newest jewelry line... Gorjana!
Happy layering!

HOW TO {PROPERLY} WEAR A CROP TOP

Contrary to popular belief, modern day crop tops are not meant to bare full midriffs. If any skin is shown, it is meant to be a peek- a mere sliver of skin. When worn properly, crop tops can actually be quite chic.

We've compiled a few looks that we love and that show how to properly pull off a crop top.

Side note: The only time it is acceptable to sport a crop top and allow the midriff to be shown is when you are at the beach or a music festival, other than that it is simply not okay- or chic.

Are crop tops appropriate for the office?
When talking about crop tops this question often arrives and the answer is yes! When carefully selected and paired with a high waisted pant or skirt, crop tops are most definitely okay for the office. We suggest looking for a more tailored fit and fabrics such as polyester or a sturdy cotton. Stay away from loose or flowy fits and avoid jersey fabrics.

Are crop tops appropriate for plus sized women?
Can plus sized women wear crop tops? Absolutely! The key to perfecting this look is to find a crop top that is well structured and tailored. Stay away from loose, flowy fitting crop tops because they tend to look frumpy and less flattering. What to wear on the bottom is just as important- We say stick to a high waisted, more form fitting skirt or pant.

Cheers!
